The Long Beach Convention Center is the site of a new tree-shaped solar generator, reports the Long Beach Post. Created and donated to the city by Long Beach resident Darren Saravis, the contraption generates 1.2 kilowatt hours per day with four solar panels that light up at night. The tree, which also has outlets so people can plug in laptops, phones or electric bikes, has a patent pending with hopes of numerous installations at outdoor malls, sidewalks, and the like.
