Retail/commercial complex rendering via We Are Marina del Rey
The Daily Breeze reports that today the Board of Supes approved a whole slate of projects for aging and creaky Marina del Rey--a four story, 526 unit apartment complex; a five story, 114 unit senior housing complex; a retail and commercial complex with a yacht club and gym; and a 1.46 acre wetland park. They sent a redesigned plan for a 288 room hotel back to the Regional Planning Commission and Design Control Board (the developer had scaled the Woodfin Suites back from 19 stories to 5). And a group calling itself We Are Marina del Rey is very concerned that all the development is out of whack with their little boating community. Leader David Barish told the LA Times "The scale and the size of the projects — the scale is too big for this residential and recreational community." WAMDR has appealed three of the projects and today had asked the Supes to deny every last one.
