Koreatown's Wilshire Hotel owes Los Angeles $3.5 million in unpaid bed taxes, and the city's brought in babysitters to keep an eye on its money. Since Tuesday this week, plainclothes county sheriffs have been staked out day and night in the lobby making sure the Wilshire pays up. (Rooms are about $169 a night.) The sheriffs say they've collected $40,000 already. Only 263 more days to go! [LAT]
