DOWNTOWN: The latest email blast from City Councilman Jose Huizar's office announces that the 81st Annual Blessing of the Animals will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2011. "This traditional event runs 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at El Pueblo Historical Monument, with a procession on Olvera Street commencing at 2 p.m., followed immediately by the Blessing of the Animals....For pet owners, nonprofit animal organizations will be available to provide general information to the public. In addition, there will be an exciting Charro equestrian show, pony rides for children and a petting zoo complete with llamas, sheep, cows and other animals." Yay, llamas in downtown. [Curbed InBox]
