A Second Chance in El Monte

In 2009, after two of developer TV, LLC's executives were arrested on fraud charges, El Monte took its transit village project and went home, saying it would find new developers to work with. TV has declared bankruptcy, but the executives were never charged and a new investor claims he's flush--and now the company wants to get back into the transit village game. It's filed an $18 million lawsuit against the city and has the support of a community group called the Park El Monte Improvement Association. Meanwhile, El Monte has renamed the project the El Monte Gateway and is hammering out contracts with Related Companies and Primestor Development. [SGVT]
