Renewing the debate about carrying guns in public, the Pasadena Star News reports that a bill that would ban openly carrying unloaded handguns moved forward this week through an Assembly subcommittee. "Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, D-Pasadena, who authored the bill, said it was necessary to close a loophole in existing law that allows people to carry unloaded, unconcealed weapons in public....An attorney for the NRA said he planned to file a lawsuit immediately if the bill passes."
