The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports on plans for an old duck farm near Industry that "closed in 2001 and was infamous for its stench." The Watershed Conservation Authority is putting in a park--31 acres west of the 605 freeway and a pocket east of it--that it hopes to open in December 2012. By June of this year, wildflowers will be performing important phyto-remediation, clearing out the nitrogen in the soil left by years of duck droppings. Meanwhile, SoCal Edison is upgrading its transmission lines through the property so it can bring in wind energy from Kern County. [SGVT]
