When the Libyan uprising began in February, one of Muammar Gaddafi's sons was in Los Angeles interning for architecture and engineering firm AECOM. He returned to command "a military unit violently suppressing rebel forces," according to Los Angeles magazine, and there have been unconfirmed reports that he's been killed. AECOM has put out a nervous-sounding statement defending the internship, saying it "consisted of publicly available information, was aligned with our [company’s] efforts to improve quality of life, specifically in Libya, where we were advancing public infrastructure..."
