Waste Management wants to triple the size of its Simi Valley landfill--from 297 to 887 acres--to accommodate more of Los Angeles' trash, and "a citizens' group has filed suit to stop the project, saying it would increase truck traffic, worsen air quality and offer ugly views from the landmark Ronald Reagan Library," according to the Daily News. A Waste Managements employee assures the paper that "Initially, there will be a fairly substantial percentage of waste coming from the Los Angeles area, which will diminish over time as Ventura County waste increases."
