The violence in Mexico has cruise ships re-routing to avoid Mazatlan, according to the Associated Press. "Carnival has become the latest cruise ship operator to suspend stops in Mazatlan, citing violent incidents in the Pacific coast resort city....Disney Wonder and Holland America have also recently canceled Mazatlan stops." More via USA Today: "The world's largest cruise operator [Carnival] says it will substitute extra time at other Mexican destinations on the country's West Coast for stops in Mazatlan on upcoming voyages of the 3,006-passenger Carnival Splendor and 2,124-passenger Carnival Spirit. The ships are based in Long Beach, Calif., and San Diego, respectively, and sail to Mexico regularly."
