Studio City Sparkles, 3rd St Gets Fishy, Vegan Fare in Larchmont

STUDIO CITY: Eater takes a peek inside the new Umami Valli in Studio City, and damn, it's fine (see above). This outlet is all glamour: "this location feels surprisingly grand with its marble-topped bar, ubiquitous chandeliers dripping crystal, and bold color scheme." On Ventura; opened yesterday.

BEVERLY CENTER: The 3rd Street seafood palace Son of a Gun opened this weekend and there were no chandeliers to be found, but a school of fake fish hanging from the walls. The restaurant, opened by the people behind Animal, occupies the old Cynthia's Restaurant 3 space (and don't worry, there's a full bar).

LARCHMONT: The small chain Cafe Gratitude set up shop this week on the northern stretch of Larchmont Village, just south of Melrose. Raw and vegan fare, featuring seasonal produce, will be served and the exterior is quite glassy and modern.

MIRACLE MILE: Eater has even more pictures of Ray's and Stark Bar, the new restaurant and watering hole at LACMA designed by Renzo Piano. A lot of colorful chairs, a lot. Ray's, only open from 5-10 p.m., serves Mediterranean-inspired food, while Stark is open 'till the wee hour of 11.
