More on the decision on the part of the Santa Monica City Council to nix designs for the Bergamot Village transit village. According to the Santa Monica Daily Press, staff felt the development was an "insular campus with tall, unvaried buildings with blank walls..." But representatives from Hines say creating smaller buildings and "cutting up buildings to improve visual variety" would drive away tenants who want traditional spaces. Nevertheless, City staff instructed developer Hines to try and address residents' concerns. [SMDP]
