In the past few weeks, LAUSD's facilities chief resigned after it was found that there aren't enough inspectors for all of the district's construction sites, and the LA Times did a whole series on the LACC's various building debacles. Today the AIA/LA sends out a press release urging both districts to hire architects as their next facilities heads: "Those who manage the facilities capital investment program require the skills, technical capabilities, construction-management experience, equilibrium in judgment, values and interests that only those with training and experience in the real world of planning, design and construction can offer— in short, an architect."
