The Shore Hotel will open this summer on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica, reports HotelChatter, and it sounds like it's actually gotten much more amenity-stuffed since it was first planned pre-recession. The hotel, on the site of the old Travelodge and Pacific Sands Motel, will have 164 "teal and orange rooms" with balconies and teak furniture, a glass-walled lobby, an outdoor pool and patio, two restaurants, a 24 hour gym, a personal trainer for guests, and event space for up to 160 people. Rooms will start at $250 per night. Back in June 2007, when neighbor Santa Monica Place was still both "struggling" and "indoor," the Lookout News reported that rooms would be around $150 a night, and that there would be no restaurant, bar, gym, or conference rooms. Good for Santa Monica, still commanding the good stuff.
