Wired magazine reports that a six-station gondola line will open this month over Rio de Janeiro's notorious favelas. According to the magazine, the line will carry 30,000 people a day over the neighborhood, "transforming the hour-and-a-half trudge to a nearby commuter rail station into a 16-minute sky ride." The $74 million line is just one of numerous gondola systems in South America. Now that proposed pod system over LA's Westside isn't looking so wacky, is it?
