MCM_Fan's Twitter stream brings the news that John Lautner's 1947 Desert Hot Springs motel re-opened on March 4th (here's the cached linked report; Lautner site is currently down). The Architects Newspaper also reported earlier this year that a March 4th date was planned. Interior designer Tracy Beckmann and furniture maker Ryan Trowbridge renovated the motel, buying the structure after after its owner, Steve Lowe, passed away. Here's the web site for the four-room motel. UPDATE: Exterior before and after photos. [MCM_Fan]
