The Los Angeles Coliseum Commission voted yesterday to keeping moving with its plans to demolish the Welton Becket-designed Memorial Sports Arena and replace it with either an events amphitheater or a soccer stadium. The Commission certified an environmental impact report for the replacement, despite protests that the comment period was held over the holiday season. Meanwhile, USC President Max Nikias said this week that buying the land under the Arena and Coliseum was not a major priority for him. [Neon Tommy]
