Prefab Finally Getting Back to Its Roots in Santa Monica

New, 18 comments

SANTA MONICA: Is prefab--which started out as a way for people to buy "kit homes"--finally getting affordable again? Continuing the trailer park theme, last week the first of 20 Marmol Radziner-designed affordable prefab homes was installed at Mountain View Mobile Park, Santa Monica, a City-owned property comprised of 105 rental spaces for manufactured homes. As a part of its affordable housing program, the City of Santa Monica purchased the homes. Available for rent, the homes range from 400 to 1,000 square feet, according to the press release.
