The Daily News is reporting that the MTA won't move and rebuild the Mulholland Drive bridge over the 405 Freeway, all part of the widening project, as originally planned. There were a number of issues, but according to the paper, one of the issues was the Mulholland Scenic Parkway Design Review Board's demand for a "world-renowned" architect. Getting the approval of a new architect would have added "additional time and cost in undertaking what was demanded' and "could have added a year to the decision-making process," according to Metro reps. So while the bridge will be re-built, it won't be moved. [Daily News]
