Architect Robert V. Derrah designed the Crossroads of the World mall, downtown's Coca-Cola Bottling Plant, and, among other buildings, a five unit Colonial courtyard building on Durant Drive in Beverly Hills that's about to bite the dust. On Tuesday, the City Council gave the go-ahead for the 1935 apartment building to be replaced by a four-story, 14 unit condo project, against the protests of preservationists including Derrah's daughter. According to the Beverly Hills Courier, the old building was originally owned by the guy who named Northridge. [BH Patch/BH Courier, image via Facebook]
