Plywood in Torrance, WeHo Whiteout, More Jamie Oliver, LA's Hottest Chef

New, 3 comments

TORRANCE: The 1321 Downtown Taproom Bistro is preparing to bring some fancy beers and American comfort food to Torrance's Sartori Street. An end-of-March opening is expected and an oddly attractive exterior (shown above) is being gussied up.

WEST HOLLYWOOD: This sounds interesting--restaurant row is getting hyped for Fig & Olive, a new (very white) Mediterranean restaurant that fetishizes olive oil and opens in the old Republic space. Big communal tables and a 50-foot tasting bar will be available when the restaurant opens--softly--on March 2nd. There's a second floor for boozing.

SANTA MONICA: Sick of Jamie Oliver yet? If not, check out Eater's coverage of his trip to the Santa Monica Promenade this weekend, where he oversaw seven local chefs mentoring high school kids on healthy cooking.

LOS ANGELES: So, who won Eater's hottest chef contest? Well, you'll have to click on the link to see, but she (there's a hint) is a beautiful lady on the go (another one). This lovely chef will now do battle with the hottest cooks crowned in all the other Eater cities--show your support for LA beauty and vote.
