Rancho Mirage probably didn't have anything else going on planning-wise anyway, right? The Desert Sun reports that Boom, the 100+ acre gay-centric community that developers want to start building in 2012, "is news to Rancho Mirage planning officials." They heard about it, like the rest of us, via blog. A rep for Boom told us in an email last week that "We have met with various community officials in Rancho Mirage, however we have not yet started the approval process," but a senior planner tells the paper that he doesn't even know where the community's going to go (no one does--Boom isn't telling yet and architect Matthias Hollwich says negotiations are still underway). However, Hollwich promises a public workshop in the Coachella Valley in the next few months.
