Curbed Cup Final Four: (14) Pasadena vs. (10) Highland Park

New, 35 comments

It's down to the final four in the 2011 Curbed Cup race for the LA Neighborhood of the Year. We'll have one matchup today and one tomorrow, with polls open for 24 hours. The final showdown for the coveted golden jpeg starts Thursday. Let the eliminations continue!

Pasadena narrowly defeated the Arts District in the last round. This year, the city kept busy with a shiny new Department of Water and Power building, work on a new general plan, and possible plans for a streetcar. Meanwhile, the Paseo Colorado might add a hotel, the Playhouse Plaza project got a satisfying redesign, and the hipster flippers moved in.

Highland Park beat Echo Park in the last round in a similarly close vote. In 2011, the birthplace of the hipster flip continued to flip out all year--flipper kings Better Shelter even built their first new house in the nabe. On top of that, HP got LA's first bike corral and a vegan drive-through.
