Unlike some other transportation bureaucracies, the Gold Line Construction Authority is determined to open its project on time (2015 in this case). The Monrovia Patch reports that the GLCA board ok'd eminent domain proceedings for land in Monrovia that the city's redevelopment agency is selling to the construction authority (the GLCA needs the plot for the light rail's maintenance facility). If the city's agreed to sell, why do they need eminent domain? With Governor Brown trying to charge local redevelopment agencies to stay in business and the matter going to court, that deal is in limbo. The eminent domain is GLCA's Plan B should the court rule against redevelopment agencies. [Monrovia Patch]
