Yesterday, the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission voted unanimously to make the Googie-style Henry's Tacos stand in Studio City a historic-cultural monument. Henry's owner Janis Hood sought the landmark status, but property owner Mehran Ebrahimpour opposes it and was "visibly angry" about the vote, reports the LA Daily News. And to complicate things, Henry's lease is up in about two weeks, on December 31. It's not clear yet whether Ebrahimpour will evict the restaurant, which has been there for 50 years, but he did tell the CHC that "he didn't support a nomination that could affect the sale or development of his property." The designation must still be approved by the City Council.
