Did you know that, if you have an unpaid traffic ticket that was due before 2009, the fine is half off starting January 1? "Under a new law, SB 857, [non-payers] will have a six-month window to pay just half of what they owe. The state will then forgive the rest of the debt." The LA County Supes thought that was unfair, so they voted this week "to urge the California Judicial Council's Administrative Office of the Court to also extend partial amnesty to drivers who have paid a portion of their pre-2009 fines and penalties." The whole plan will help the state get a little revenue and take some warrants off the books [AP]
