Renderings were released this week for the future Annenberg Building at USC, the result of a $50 million gift from the Annenberg Foundation made last October. According to Annenberg TV News, the renderings were released following approvals from donor the Annenberg Foundation, USC's President, and the Board of Trustees. The building, which will house the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, is slated for the corner of Watt and Childs Ways and is expected to open in fall 2014. In an email, the Annenberg Executive Building Committee says that "While these are in no way exact in every detail, they give a good sense of what the building will look like on the exterior and how it will fit in with the rest of the campus surroundings."
According to Inside Annenberg, the building's plans include a ground-level multimedia newsroom for all of Annenberg's media outlets and "a three-story atrium centered on a forum space for public events." The Annenberg Executive Building Committee email adds that "With this approval, the building committee will continue to focus on the building programming and working with our architect team on the floor plans. We expect to distribute more information on the interior spaces in the next few weeks and months."
