The Daily Breeze reminds us of the seedy underbelly of Renters Week: Craigslist scams. The LAPD thinks that more than two dozen people may have been victims of a just-discovered scam ring--one woman says she "responded to an ad on Craigslist for an apartment near Sunset and Vine in Hollywood listed for $1,288 a month. She was given the lock-box code, looked around, and met the next day with a man who claimed to represent the owner. She gave him a $1,350 deposit. He gave her a key." But of course the key was bogus. SWAT officers raided an apartment in Silver Lake yesterday morning and arrested the alleged ringleader, a registered sex offender recently out of prison. [DB]
