Harwell Hamilton Harris's "Frank Lloyd Wright House With a Hat" in Pasadena's Poppy Peak

New, 8 comments

Some readers may recall this residence from its previous appearance on Curbed nearly a year ago. Designed in 1935 by Harwell Hamilton Harris for Caltech professor Graham Laing, the 1,449 square foot home was spotlighted in the November 1935 issue of California Arts & Architecture in a feature entitled "A Frank Lloyd Wright House With a Hat On." (Scans taken from John Crosse's estimable SoCal Arch History blog.) Located in the historic Poppy Peak district, the house features two bedrooms, two baths, 150 feet of built-in bookshelves, French doors, hardwood floors, dining terraces, and mountain views. It's also significantly cheaper to rent than it was a year ago. Previously priced at $4,450, it's now asking $3,250/month, including utilities and cable.
