Los Angeles magazine's latest issue has a very important reminder for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and their future movie museum at the old May Co. Building: Judy Garland's Wizard of Oz ruby slippers, one of only four surviving pairs, are going up for auction on December 16. The three-day event at the Paley Center for Media has tons of other juicy items up for sale, including Bela Lugosi's Dracula cape, Marilyn Monroe's wedding ring, and a DeLorean from Back to the Future III. The firm putting on the auction, Profiles in History, is the same house that auctioned off Debbie Reynold's enormous trove of Hollywood memorabilia in June--perhaps AMPAS can buy back Marilyn's Seven Year Itch Dress from whoever got their mitts on it.
