WeHo Looking Into Free Party and Pick-Up Shuttle

New, 12 comments

Ok, so the proposed West Hollywood "trolley" is perhaps a little less Grove and a little more van to the airport, but still not a bad idea. Yesterday, the West Hollywood City Council voted to ask staff to look into the costs and options of creating a free "entertainment shuttle" to shuttle the city's partygoers among WeHo party destinations, according to the West Hollywood Patch. In an earlier story, Patch said that Mayor John Duran "envisions a shuttle that would make a loop down Santa Monica Boulevard, up San Vicente Boulevard, and then east on Sunset Boulevard to Crescent Heights, and back to Santa Monica Blvd." The shuttle could potentially alleviate traffic, as well as provide an alternative to driving drunk around the city. The city file says that staff will discuss the idea with the Sunset Strip Business Association, the Marketing & Visitors Bureau, the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the Sunset Strip Business Association, and specific venues on Santa Monica Boulevard and the Strip. Duran, who presented the idea to the council, but credits former city council candidate Lucas John with the original idea, already has some ideas of his own about the shuttle, telling the Patch that he wants the shuttle to be free and fun, and, you know, sex sells: "If we made it a party opportunity where you had the chance to meet someone as attractive on the bus as you would in a bar, it might work."
