About 100 LAUSD delivery trucks and 30 or 40 LAUSD vans will become mobile billboards under a contract passed by the school board last week: "With no resolution to the state's yearslong budget crisis, the school board felt it had no choice but to loosen the district's ban against using school property for advertising," reports the Daily Breeze. Buses will be exempt. Board member Steve Zimmer likens the ads to a bake sale and says "If public funding was funding public education, we wouldn't be out looking for ads." [DB, image via]
