Mayor Villaraigosa called for 50 new pocket parks in a speech at a Los Angeles Business Council event held yesterday. The Daily News quotes Deputy Mayor Sarah Sheahan, who says that the amount of parks planned or executed during the mayor's tenure has exhausted the supply of large parcels available for park space: "After developing 650 acres of park space we have literally run out of large park parcels." Sheahan also told the LAT that a list of pocket park sites will be released in March. [LAT/DN, image via]
