Eames: the Movie, News From ULI's Big Meeting

BEVERLY HILLS: Mid-century design all-stars Charles and Ray Eames are getting the documentary treatment this month, with the release of Eames: The Architect and the Painter, showing at the Laemmle Music Hall starting November 18. Core77 writes that "Filmmakers Jason Cohn & Bill Jersey tapped a never-before-seen 'cache of archival material, visually-stunning films, love letters, photographs and artifacts' from over 40 years of work and collaboration." You can also preorder the film here. [First Run Features]

DOWNTOWN: The busy bees at Bisnow report from last week's Urban Land Institute conference, which was held at the Convention Center this year, writing that businessman-about-town Steve Soboroff (the former Playa Vista CEO) gave away a Dodgers jacket. Where'd he get it? You may recall he was named vice chairman of the team last April, the day before Major Leage Baseball took control of the team. He resigned a couple months later and ended up with a spare Dodgers jacket that's just "been lying around." Meanwhile, Wayne Ratkovich of the Ratkovich Company was named a ULI Life Trustee, according to a press release. He's the thirteenth person to nab the honor in the ULI's 75 years. The Ratkovich Company is currently turning Howard Hughes's old Spruce Goose hangar and other spaces into creative offices at Playa Vista. [Curbed Inbox]
