The Downtown News reports that the already sad tale of the mismanagement of Mexican-American cultural center La Plaza de Cultura y Artes gets worse: "On Sept. 29, Accent Builders, a Los Angeles construction firm hired by the county in 2006 to rehabilitate the Plaza House and Vickery-Brunswig Building [for the museum], filed the $5.2 million lawsuit against LA Plaza and the county, alleging that they failed to pay for the work. That suit follows 15 other suits filed by subcontractors against Accent as early as February 2010, also claiming lack of payment for construction services." The Downtown News reported last week that now-former president and CEO Miguel Angel Corzo was found to have really botched the finances during his tenure. [Downtown News, image via]
