WeHo's be-ribboned low-income housing project is scheduled to break ground by the end of the year as the apartmentification of the La Brea/Santa Monica area marches on. The five story, 32-unit mixed-use project was designed by Patrick Tighe (who designed the Sierra Bonita project on Santa Monica) and John Mutlow. The WeHo City Council just approved an additional $3.5 million in funding on top of $3 million already promised to the project, as well as some federal funding. The city has a big affordable housing shortage--these units will rent for about $480 to $800. [Park La Brea News, image via]
