The House of Davids held an open house yesterday and of course we stopped by. We even felt a little starstruck. Here's the inside scoop:
304 S. Muirfield Rd.
Price: $1.795 million
Worse Before Norwood?: The broker told us that when R&B singer Norwood Young bought the house back in the late nineties, everything was covered in pink carpet. Norwood ripped it up expecting to find hardwood floors, but instead found the marble you see in the photos.
Gracious Host: The very lovely Young conveniently lost his car key so he could stick around for the open house. He camped out in the foyer on one of the big Alice in Wonderland chairs, posed for photos with babies, and showed us his killer closet (with spinning drycleaner-style racks).
Posters of Parties Past: There isn't a single room in the house that doesn't have a poster on the wall to remind us of the ragers of yesteryear.
Glitter, Glitter Everywhere: The banister is painted with silver glitter paint and the molding in the upstairs bedroom is painted with gold glitter paint. It's amazing.
Inevitable Lookie-Loo Comment: "You're not going to buy it, are you?"
The Best is Yet to Come: Some of the objects on sale at the upcoming estate sale aren't in the MLS photos. Our favorites? The giraffes that flank the sphinx head in the yard and the sedan covered in mosquito netting. We're also told there will be champagne and massages at the sale's opening day on October 15.
