Johnston Marklee's Version of Lautner's Baxter-Hodiak House

New, 13 comments

Sure seems to be a lotta Lautner-related news of late. Remember the Baxter-Hodiak House? Built in 1940 for Frank Lloyd Wright granddaughter/Sarah Siddons Award recipient Anne Baxter, the Sunset Plaza residence was originally remodeled by John Lautner in 1951 (and purportedly featured a bit of Lloyd Wright work as well). Listed in November 2008 at $2.395 million, the much-pedigreed-but-not-so-much-admired property was sold one year and many price chops later to Rome-based developer DEVELOP RE, who brought LA architecture firm Johnston Marklee on board to do a revamp ("before" pictures can be seen here). Last week, the newest incarnation of the four bedroom, five bath house was trotted out to market with a beefed-up asking price of $3.85 million.
