A group called Long Beach Grows is asking the city council there to consider adopting laws similar to those "in Seattle and other cities permitting small-scale animal husbandry on all lots." In Seattle, "up to three small animals, including dwarf goats, can be kept on a property with no restrictions. One pig weighing up to 150 pounds is allowed on all lots." The rules also allow fowl and beehives at relatively small setbacks from property lines. The idea's been presented to the council's environmental committee, which has asked staff to study the issue.
