BEL AIR: Eater has this pic of Wolfgang Puck at the Hotel Bel-Air, the new place to see and be seen on the Westside. They use words like "elegant" and "gorgeous" to describe it, so we think they like it. The restaurant opens November 1.
VENTURA: Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, along with rocker Chrissie Hynde, are investing in a new vegan restaurant somewhere on Ventura. It's early in the process, according to Eater, but it looks like respected vegan chef Tal Ronnen--who worked on Ellen and Portia's wedding--will be involved.
BEVERLY HILLS: Even though Monsieur Marcel has two outposts in tourist traps (the Farmers Market and the Third Street Promenade), their food is still pretty darn good. Well, they're opening up in another fanny pack-popular destination: on Canon in Beverly Hills. The debut remains TBD though.
SANTA MONICA: In a recent coffee fake-out, a Craigslist ad seemed to imply that a Stumptown coffee shop was opening at the Yahoo Center--Stumptown is a really phenomenal Portland-based beanery. But alas, the notice was for a new brewhouse, Brew Coffee Bar, that just uses Stumptown beans (could be worse). Good news: Stumptown wants to come to LA, a city that certainly has a palate for fancy coffee.
