Case-Shiller is seeing a "modest glimmer of hope" in August's house pricing data. Prices for previously-owned houses were up 0.2 percent over July in the 20 metropolitan areas the index covers, and they were down 3.8 percent from August 2010. Los Angeles fell 0.4 percent over July and 3.5 percent over August 2010. According to the LA Times, "Some economists predict a renewed decline in prices in fall and winter." Hey, tents at Occupy LA are completely free. [LAT/S&P]
