No sooner had the owners of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (and their supergraphics dealers) dropped a First Amendment-based billboard lawsuit against the city, then BAM, the city hit them with its own lawsuit. Ban Billboard Blight reported earlier this month that the Thompson Hotels and Plain Sight Media had abandoned a two year old federal lawsuit against the city that sought millions in damages over citations for unpermitted signs. Today the AP adds the city attorney's office has filed a lawsuit against Thompson and Plain Sight that "says the huge vinyl billboards on the Roosevelt since at least 2008 were erected and maintained without required permits, approvals and inspections."
