Rand Corp. has retracted a study released in September that linked last year's closing of of medical marijuana shops in Los Angeles to increased crime rates in surrounding neighborhoods. The think tank said the study was a "rare failure" of its peer review system. After pulling the report from its website earlier this month following pressure from LA City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, Rand conducted an internal review and found that the report's data did not include crime data reported by the Los Angeles Police Department.
