There's palm tree thievery afoot in Mid-City, reports NBC LA: "At least four adult palm trees were removed from one stretch of land in Mid-City, and many more have been uprooted elsewhere, according to Caltrans." Apparently the trees can retail for about $20,000. The stunning twist in the story--a letter signed a Caltrans employee authorizing a private company to take the trees. [NBC LA, image via]
