Paramount Loses a Cafe, Thousand Oaks Gains a Belly, Santa Monica Switcheroo, New Option Near Bev Center

New, 4 comments

HOLLYWOOD: Wild Oats Cafe, the tiny but delicious eatery catty-corner to Paramount Studios, has shut down. The owners are moving to a new undisclosed location Downtown, which should open in early 2012.

THOUSAND OAKS: Buddha's Belly opened its third LA-area outpost at The Oaks Shopping Center in Thousand Oaks on Monday. Like the venues in Santa Monica and near the Grove, the restaurant offers Americanized Asian dishes, but this time with sushi choices.

SANTA MONICA: Main Street's World Cafe, popular for brunch, will reopen after a long renovation on October 17 with a new name, Areal (reminds us of a certain body part). Eater reports that a new bar, dining room, and lounge are part of the changes.

BEVERLY GROVE: The Orlando Hotel will get a new restaurant on October 21 with the opening of The Churchill, a rustic American farm-to-table concept. The interior should be impressive: reclaimed wood communal tables, polished concrete floors, iron table tops, and vintage records are all planned. Living up to the locavore ideals, chef Jason Tuley is planning a rooftop garden to grow herbs and vegetables.
