Yesterday, to the strenuous objections of the bag-making lobby, the LA Board of Public Works voted to ban single-use paper and plastic bags in the city. The measure will still require environmental review and City Council and mayoral approval before it goes through, but according to the Daily News, "If all goes according to plan, the ban would take effect next year."
