Curbed took the three elevators and one flight of stairs up to the observation deck on the twenty-seventh floor of City Hall this morning, and we got this shot of the construction site of Downtown Civic Center Park, which currently amounts to several piles of dirt. The DWP headquarters, in its full-fountained glory, is in the background, along with the Disney Music Hall, shining in the 95 degree sun, and the Hollywood Sign.

We also visited the observation deck to snap a photo of the park back in April of this year. We do not claim to be licensed landscape architects, but progress seems slow. Some demolition and tree removal has taken place between Broadway and Hill. The project broke ground on July 15, 2010, and the approved construction documents target completion by June of 2012.
The 12 acre site is designed by Rios Clementi Hale Studios.
