Polar bears wept when those 85,000 yellow-stickered hybrid drivers were kicked out of the carpool lane this summer, and now it turns out that their banishment is bad for humans too. Researchers at UC Berkeley's Institute of Transportation Studies found that "everybody is worse off with the program’s ending?Drivers of low-emission vehicles are worse off, drivers in the regular lanes are worse off, and drivers in the carpool lanes are worse off.
