Work on Spring Street Park Begins

New, 2 comments

The long-anticipated Spring Street park, paid for by Quimby funds from developers, broke ground last week, reports the Downtown News. Workers will tear up a former parking lot and conduct other prep work through about February, with full completion expected for Fall, according to the Department of Public Works. The 0.7-acre space will feature "walking paths, landscaping, lawn, seatings, water feature, art work, security fencing, security lighting, and eco-friendly features." The one question remaining is who will run the park--residents of local condos hoped to band together and chip in for operations (the park is between the Rowan and El Dorado lofts), but the plan fell through. The city will step in in the absence of an alternative. [Downtown News]
