Sleeping With the Fishes

What do sellers do with all those unsold Christmas trees? Well, that tree that graced your aunt's house up north may now be in a lake near Oakland, California, reports the New York Times. "The trees are taken to a different lake each year, where volunteers bundle them and secure them to the lake bed. Within days, the newly denuded branches become covered with algae, which attract aquatic insects, fish and, ultimately, fishermen." Yup, it's good fishing for the fishermen. [NYT]
